The winner of season 3 in Top Chef, Hung Huynh, shows how to properly prepare geoducks two ways, fried and raw. Other recipes that incorporate geoduck can be found here.

Surprisingly or not, geoducks are actually a delicacy in Asian countries. The siphon is considered the best part, due to its crunchy texture and rich flavor. Some believe the geoduck is a prized aphrodisiac but this belief has yet to be proven true.

  1. As far as the "review questions" go your site is really good. The topic is clear (geoducks and how ocean acidification affects them, right?), the text is readable and well-referenced, and there are lots of good pictures. Couple style comments/questions:

    (On the Background page) "While some calcifiers, such as cocolithophores, seem to be the "losers" (Kleypas et. al,2006), geoducks appear to be the "winners"."... can you elaborate a little on what those two words (winners and losers) are supposed to mean?

    (On the Ocean Acidification page) "The pH scale is logarithmic so this drop in pH is dramatic..." *I* know what "logarithmic" means, but this might be kind of jargony. Rephrase? Perhaps something like "Although it's only a few points on the pH scale, the scale is logarithmic, which means the change is dramatic: about four times more acidic."

    Also some copy edits:

    Background page:

    "...nicknaming them..." -> "...earning them the nickname..."

    Ocean Acidification page:

    "...which decrease the ocean's pH." -> "...which decreases the ocean's pH."

    "Currently the ocean's are..." -> "Currently the oceans are..."

    "calcificatino" -> "calcification"

    Two spaces instead of one before "social development"

    "large scale" -> "large-scale"

    "changin" -> "changing"

    Rising Temperatures page:

    "and/or" -> "and" (and/or and his/her are poor style)

    the economics of it page:

    Title is capitalized differently than the other pages. I dig the all-lowercase, but they should all be the same.

    "There is an estimated 44,000 acres..." -> "There are an estimated 44,000 acres..."

    "poinsining" -> "poisoning"

    Cooking with the beast page:

    Also capitalized differently than other page titles. Each of the three schemes ("Capitalized first letter only", "Capitalized First Letter of Each Word", and "no capitalization at all" is fine, but they should all be the same.

    "Some believe the geoduck is a prized aphrodisiac but this has yet to be proven." It has yet to be proven that some people believe that, or it has yet to be proven that the belief is true? Rephrase.

  2. According to the review questions your website it done very well. It's neat and gets to the point. A few things that you could work on would be:
    1. The first opening page is quirky and cool but maybe tying that back to climate change would make it work nicely into your web page.

    I also really liked your pictures and they way you referenced them to your text.

    Overall very nicely done.
